Principal's Message

Dear Durfee Parents:
Welcome to the 2019/2020 school year at Durfee School! I am extremely honored to be serving as the new principal of this wonderful school! I look forward to becoming a member of this great school community and working with the staff at Durfee to continue to provide ALL students with the best educational programs in a positive and challenging learning environment, so that our children will grow into responsible and productive citizens of our world.
Before joining El Monte City School District I was the principal for six years in the Mountain View School District, I spent two years as principal in the Rowland Unified School District, and eight years as principal in the Torrance Unified School District. My first administrative position was in the Lynwood Unified School District as an Assistant Principal at a middle school for one year and spent eight wonderful years as an elementary school teacher in the Lennox School District. I am sincerely excited about bringing my previous experience in varied educational settings to the Durfee community to help lead our school to new heights.
My practice and philosophy is to work collaboratively with staff, parents, and students and hold high expectations for all. My goal is to continue to make Durfee a wonderful place for students to learn and an exceptional place for staff to excel. My aim is to foster a warm, innovative, and dynamic learning environment that offers a balanced and rigorous curriculum, the latest technology and resources, and provides students with a World Class Education. It is my pledge to work tirelessly and closely with teachers and staff, our amazing students, and our parent community to accomplish this goal.
I am delighted to join this dedicated and talented school team and look forward to meeting and working with our parent community as we begin an exciting new school year. My door is always open. Please stop by and introduce yourselves. Here’s to a wonderful school year!
Sincerely,
Gerardo Yepez

Me dará mucho gusto conocerles personalmente.
Sinceramente,
Gerardo Yepez Director, Escuela Durfee
