Principal's Message

Dear Parents:

Welcome to the 2020/2021 school year at Durfee School! I am extremely honored to be serving as principal of this wonderful school and to be working alongside our two amazing Assistant Principals, Mrs. Taing and Ms. Leeper!  I would also like to welcome you to our Durfee School website. The purpose of this webpage is to provide parents, students, and our school community easy access to a wealth of information on our Durfee School programs, policies, and activities.

Durfee School is a great place to teach and learn! Our teachers are committed to a high quality learning experience focused on the individual needs of each child. We pride ourselves in having creative and innovative instruction that engages students in their learning.  We are very proud that this commitment to excellence has brought Durfee School some prestigious recognitions such as being named a California Distinguished School in 2020, being named by ERP to the 2019-20 Honor Roll, and Innovative Schools selecting Durfee as a Top School for leading the way in educational equity across Los Angeles County, in 2019 and 2020.

Every month I will share a topic with our community that I hope you find informative and useful.  This past year has been a difficult one, with stressors like dealing with the global pandemic, distance learning, and other very difficult challenges.  If stress has impacted your lives and the lives of your family, you are not alone.  This month I am sharing the article, Managing Stress: A Family Affair from NAESP.  I hope that you read through it and find ways that will help you and your family understand stress and learn skills that will help you work through stress and have a healthier life.  Enjoy!

Estimados padres:
